How Reference Photos Are Used for Personalised Figure Styling

Updated: October 14, 2026 · By: Sam, Frame Story

A reference photo helps communicate visual details such as hair, clothing or overall styling; it is a design reference rather than a promise of an exact portrait copy. Uploads are available only on supported products and are used to prepare the order.

What a reference photo can help with

A clear photo can help explain a hairstyle, clothing colour, accessory or other visual detail that is difficult to describe in a short field. The available options on the product page still control what can be produced.

What it cannot guarantee

The finished figure is a brick-style minifigure design, not a photographic reproduction. Small variations in placement, colour, printing and component appearance are a natural part of a made-to-order product. If a request is outside the available design, Frame Story may ask for clarification.

How privacy is handled

Reference photos are used for order fulfilment and are not used for advertising. They are kept only for the operational period described in the Photo & Personalisation Policy, then deleted according to that policy. Do not upload sensitive information that is not needed to make the order.

How to submit a useful photo

  • Use a clear, well-lit image.
  • Include the relevant hair, clothing or styling detail.
  • Explain the requested detail in the product field as well.
  • Check that the upload belongs to the order and does not include unrelated private information.
